Transistor amp 2
1998

This circuit was intended to address some of the perceived deficiencies of the original circuit. These were unsymmetrical slew rates and lack of drive from the voltage amplifier stage under heavy loading (not realistic for normal mortals). So I made the voltage amplifier Push Pull. This solved the slewrate problem and generally tided up the performance of the amp. On audition however the sound had changed. Only subtle but again reduced was the transparency that I had come to appreciate in the original circuit.

I must confess to having been a bit surprised at this. The rest of the circuit remained identical and the measured performance improved. The amplifier still sounds well, a kind of fine airy kind of sound, but lacking that last bit of transparency hinted at by the first amp.

CES2000 (Nuwtonia Solis)

Here are a couple of quotes I found on the web... It is so nice people enjoy them.

I love my Nuwtonia Integrated Amp, the Solis. I bought it to stand in for my Creek 5350SE, while it was in the shop. My Creek has been in the closet ever since it came back. Brad Atlanta

I paired the Twins with a noname British integrated called the Nuwtonia Solis in a second system. The Nuwtonia was an incredible performer, having much of the pace and musicality of the Naim gear, with bass and dynamics to boot. I miss that combo; I sold it when I dismantled the second system....
